🇮🇳 Armed Forces · To a Son

He Guards the Country. Your Letter Guards Him.

The day he left in uniform, something in the house changed shape — pride and worry moved in together and never left. He calls when he can, and you count the days in between. Parents of soldiers have always known the remedy: write. Your blessings in your own handwriting travel where you cannot, and stay long after the call has ended.

Letter to Son in the Army letter by post

पत्र क्यों भेजें

Blessings he can carry

An aashirwad spoken lasts a moment; written in a mother's or father's hand, it rides in his pocket on every duty. Soldiers keep their parents' letters closest.

Home news is fuel

The crop, the neighbours, the little cousin's marks — what sounds ordinary to you is precious currency at a far post. Give him the village, the mohalla, the dinner table.

Say the pride out loud

You tell everyone else how proud you are of your fauji beta. A letter is where you finally tell him — plainly, permanently.

From a mother
Beta, your call came for two minutes on Tuesday and I have been composing my replies since. Eat on time — I know the langar feeds you well but a mother must say it. The whole lane asks about you. I tell them my son is on duty, and my chin does something proud on its own.
From a father
Son, I am not a man of many words on the phone, as you know. On paper I will say it once, clearly: you have done what I only dreamed of. Do your duty with a straight back and a cool head. Your mother prays daily; I check the news less than she thinks. We are fine. Make your unit proud.
The waiting months
They said network would be rare where you are, so this letter isn't a complaint — it's a bridge. Nothing at home needs you urgently; everything at home misses you generally. When your leave is sanctioned, don't tell us the date. Surprise your mother. I'll manage the tears logistics.

जानने योग्य बातें

सवाल, जवाब के साथ

Can you deliver to a 56 APO or 99 APO address?

Yes. We post via India Post, which interfaces with the Army Postal Service for APO mail. Give us the exact unit address in the C/O 56 APO or C/O 99 APO format, precisely as the soldier has shared it, and the letter travels through the APS network to his unit.

He's just joined and is in training — can we write to his academy or regiment centre?

Yes — recruits and cadets can receive mail at their training academy or regimental centre address. Ask him for the exact address his unit specifies for personal mail, and letters from home during training are famously the best part of a hard week.

How can parents send a letter to their son in the army?

Tell us what you want to say — in Hindi, English or Hinglish — give us his unit address exactly as he shared it, and pay online. We write it out by hand on 100gsm cream paper and post it. ₹599 handwritten, ₹399 printed.

My son is in the army and I can't write well — can someone help me put it into words?

Yes. Use our free writing assistant: say it plainly the way you would on the phone and it will shape it into a letter. You read and approve every word before anything is written or posted, so nothing goes out that isn't yours.

What should a mother write to her soldier son?

Home, in detail — who asked after him, what's cooking, what's changed in the lane — and your blessing said plainly. Sons say the ordinary paragraphs are what they re-read. You can save the pride for one clear sentence; it lands harder that way.

Should I tell my son about problems at home while he is on duty?

Share what he can hear without helplessness — routine matters, or a difficulty that's already been handled. Anything unresolved and serious is better raised on a call where he can ask questions, rather than in a letter he'll re-read for two weeks.

Can I send a photo of the family or the house with the letter?

Yes — up to 3 printed photos can go with it, square 3x3 inches or 2.3x3.5 inches. A picture of the house, the dog or a grandchild often ends up taped inside a trunk lid for the whole posting.

Can I write to my son in Hindi?

Yes — Hindi, English or Hinglish. Write it the way you actually speak to him at home; that is what he wants to hear in your handwriting, not formal phrasing.

What if I'm not good with words?

Start from the samples on this page, or use our free writing assistant to shape your thoughts. You approve every word before it ships.

Can I add photos or extras?

You can attach up to 3 printed photos, add a wax seal or scented paper at checkout — every letter is on 100gsm premium cream paper.
