A Grateful Citizen Is Allowed to Say So. In Writing.
We say 'thanks to our soldiers' every Republic Day and mean it — and then the year moves on. But at a post where winter is an opponent and home is a photograph, a stranger's letter of thanks is not a small thing. Soldiers read such letters aloud. Officers pin them on notice boards. Your two hundred words of honest gratitude can hold up better than you'd believe.

Why send a letter
It reaches more than one soldier
Gratitude letters get passed around a post and pinned up in the langar. One honest letter can lift a whole platoon's evening.
Perfect for schools and groups
A class writing to jawans is a civics lesson no textbook matches. We can produce a batch of letters from a school, a colony or an office.
Gratitude without spectacle
No hashtags, no camera — just a citizen, a page, and thanks said properly. It's the quietest patriotism, and the kind that reaches.

Sir, you don't know me — I'm one of the crores who sleep soundly because you don't. I have no grand words, only this: I dropped my daughter at school today in perfect safety and thought of the men who make that unremarkable. Thank you for your service. Jai Hind.
Respected Jawan bhai, our family celebrated Diwali in peace this year, and before the diyas went out we decided to write to the reason why. We don't know your name; we know your work. Our home's gratitude and one extra diya were kept in your name. Stay safe. India remembers.
Respected Soldier Uncle, I am in Class 8. My teacher says freedom is not free, and I understood it when I saw the news from the border in winter. I cannot send warm clothes, so I am sending warm words. Thank you for standing there so we can sit in classrooms. Jai Hind.

Questions, answered
Can I write to a soldier I don't know?
Letters to unknown jawans are typically routed through official and NGO campaigns — they collect citizens' letters and provide the unit addresses mail should go to. If you have an address from such a campaign (or from a soldier's family), we can write and post your letter to it.
Can a school or group send letters in bulk?
Yes — we regularly produce batches for schools, colonies and offices, each child's or member's words as its own letter. Write to us with the count and the campaign address and we'll organise it.
What should a gratitude letter say?
Keep it honest and specific: who you are, one ordinary moment of your safe life, and your thanks. Skip slogans — a soldier has heard them all. The samples on this page are good starting points.
How do I write a thank you letter to an Indian Army soldier I have never met?
Introduce yourself in a line, describe one ordinary safe moment from your week, and thank him for it. Avoid asking about his posting or duties. Ending with a simple wish that he gets home on leave soon is better than any slogan.
How long should a thank you letter to a soldier be?
A short page is ideal. Two hundred honest words are read properly; three pages of patriotic phrasing are skimmed. If you're stuck, our free writing assistant will shape your thoughts and you approve every word.
Can students write thank you letters to soldiers for Republic Day or Independence Day?
Yes, and it works beautifully as a class activity. Order 5–6 days ahead, or use scheduled delivery — though for a remote posting allow generous margin, since mail to forward areas moves less predictably than to a peace station.
How much does it cost for a class or office to send thank you letters?
Each letter is priced individually — ₹599 handwritten, ₹399 printed, on 100gsm cream paper. Write to us with the number of letters and the campaign address you've been given and we'll organise the batch.
Can I write my thank you letter in Hindi?
Yes — Hindi, English or Hinglish. Hindi is often the warmer choice for a gratitude letter, and children in particular write more naturally in it.
Can I put a drawing or photo in a letter to a soldier?
Up to 3 printed photos can be enclosed, square 3x3 inches or 2.3x3.5 inches — a photo of a class, a colony or a family works well. Children's drawings can be sent as photographs of the artwork.
What if I'm not good with words?
Start from the samples on this page, or use our free writing assistant to shape your thoughts. You approve every word before it ships.
Can I add photos or extras?
You can attach up to 3 printed photos, add a wax seal or scented paper at checkout — every letter is on 100gsm premium cream paper.
