💍 Armed Forces · To a Husband

For Everything the Sunday Call Never Has Time For

You keep the home, the accounts, the children's homework and your own worry - and compress it all into a call that drops at the worst moment. Army wives have always had a second channel: the letter. Write him the unhurried version - the news, the nonsense, the 'I'm fine' that's actually true and the parts that aren't. He'll read it on his cot more times than he'll ever admit.

We post within 48 hours, and delivery takes 3-7 working days. We never collect on a Sunday.

Why send a letter

No two-minute limit

Calls are rationed by network and duty. A letter takes as long as you need - the full week, told properly, with the small details he's starving for.

Your strength, in writing

He worries about you managing alone as much as you worry about him. A steady, funny, honest letter from you is the best rest he'll get all week.

It goes in the trunk

Every fauji's trunk has a bundle of letters from his wife. Yours will travel every posting with him - Leh to Jodhpur - outlasting a hundred phone calls.

The honest one
On the phone I say everything is fine so you don't worry on duty. On paper I can be accurate: everything is fine AND I miss you at dinner, at the school gate, at the geyser that only obeys you. Both things are true. Come home on leave and check my maths.
Keeping him in the everyday
This week's report from your headquarters at home: your daughter lost a tooth and negotiated the rate up, your son wore your cap for three days, and I fixed the scooty myself - the mechanic was very impressed with 'my husband's instructions'. We are proud of you. Also we are fine. Mostly the first thing.
Posting season
Another station, another set of boxes I packed while you reported early. I've stopped counting cities and started counting this instead: everywhere the army sends us, we've made it home. Wherever you're reading this - that's home too, because my letter is there. Stay safe. Write back, even two lines.

Questions, answered

More answers on the FAQ page.

Can you deliver to a 56 APO or 99 APO address?

Yes. We post via India Post, which interfaces with the Army Postal Service for APO mail. Give us the exact unit address in the C/O 56 APO or C/O 99 APO format, precisely as the soldier has shared it, and the letter travels through the APS network to his unit.

Is it okay to send personal letters through the unit address?

Absolutely - personal mail from family is the oldest tradition in the fauj, and units handle it routinely. The envelope is elegant and private; the contents are between the two of you.

How can an army wife send a letter to her husband posted far away?

Write it here in English, Hindi or Hinglish, enter his unit address exactly as he gave it, and pay online - 699 handwritten, 499 printed. We write and post it from within India; you never leave the house or find a post office.

What should I write to my husband in the army so he does not worry?

Give him the week in detail - the children, the bills you sorted, the small victories - and be honest about the hard bits that are already resolved. What unsettles a soldier is an open worry he can do nothing about from there; what steadies him is knowing you have the ground covered.

Can I add our wedding anniversary date or a photo of the children?

Yes - up to 10 printed photos travel with the letter (square 3x3 inches, or 2.3x3.5 inches). Many wives add “The P.S.” for 129: one extra line on a separate small card in the same handwriting, which tends to be the line he keeps in his pocket.

Can I schedule a letter to reach him on our anniversary?

Choose a scheduled delivery date at checkout, and for a peace station allow good margin; for a forward or high-altitude posting order well ahead, since APS mail to remote posts moves with convoy and weather schedules. An early letter simply waits with him.

How often do army wives write to their husbands on posting?

Whatever you can sustain - many find a fortnightly letter fits alongside the Sunday call without becoming a chore. A steady rhythm he can count on is worth more than an occasional long one.

Can I make the letter feel special without it being fragile in the post?

Every letter is on 100gsm premium cream paper as standard, and the add-ons travel well: a wax seal for 100 (a real pressed flower can be pressed into the wax at no extra charge), scented paper for 50, or twine or ribbon for 50.

What if I'm not good with words?

Start from the samples on this page, or use our free writing assistant to shape your thoughts. You approve every word before it ships.

Can I add photos or extras?

You can attach up to 10 printed photos (50 each), add a wax seal or scented paper at checkout - every letter is on 100gsm premium cream paper.
