Make it theirs

This is the name we write on the envelope. You can change it later.

Pick the date and we will tell you the last day to order.

We post within 48 hours, and delivery takes 3-7 working days. We never collect on a Sunday.

Why send a letter

Ordered there, delivered here

You never touch a courier form or an international shipping rate. We post within India - the distance is our problem, not yours.

No time zone to negotiate

No calculating whether it is too early to call. The letter arrives on the right day and waits politely.

Proof you are still theirs

Families worry that the ones who left are drifting. An envelope with your handwriting on it settles that question wordlessly.

From a first Diwali overseas
Diwali here is a normal working day. I lit two diyas on the windowsill and nobody on the street knew why. It made me understand what our whole street at home is actually worth. Happy Diwali - I'm fine, I'm fed, and I miss you more at this time of year than any other.
To parents, years abroad
Another Diwali from here. I've stopped trying to recreate it and started just remembering it instead, which hurts less and means more. You two built every good festival memory I have. Happy Diwali, Maa-Papa. The ticket is booked for the winter.
To siblings
Happy Diwali from the land of no mithai worth eating. Send me a photo of the house with all the lights on - that's all I want this year. Eat my share and tell Maa I'm wearing a sweater.

Questions, answered

More answers on the FAQ page.

Can I order a Diwali letter from abroad to be delivered in India?

Yes - that is one of the most common orders we get. Pay online from anywhere, give us the Indian address, and we post it there. Handwritten is 699, printed 499.

Will the letter reach before Diwali?

We produce your letter within a day and send it by tracked post - typically 3-6 days anywhere in India. Order about a week before the festival to be comfortable. Post volumes climb steeply in the fortnight before Diwali, so earlier is genuinely better for this one.

Do I have to deal with international shipping or customs?

No - nothing crosses a border. You order from overseas but the letter is produced and posted inside India, so there is no customs form, no international rate and no tracking that gives up at the airport.

What do NRIs write to family in India at Diwali?

Write about the difference honestly - what Diwali looks like where you are, what you have stopped being able to recreate, what you picture when you think of the house. Families want to know you still think in those pictures.

Can I send letters to several relatives in different Indian cities?

Yes - place one order per address. Each one is written individually, so nothing reads like a circular.

Can I pay in a foreign currency?

Checkout is in rupees and most international cards work directly. If a card is refused, write to us and we will sort out an alternative before the festival rush.

Can you send sweets or a gift along with the letter?

No - we produce and post letters, not parcels, so mithai and gifts travel separately. Most people send the box by courier and the letter through us, timed to land in the same few days. They arriving apart actually helps: the sweets are the custom, the letter is the part nobody expects.

I don't know what to write. Can you help?

Start from the samples on this page, or use our free writing assistant to shape a draft in your own voice. You approve every word before it is written out and posted - nothing goes in the envelope that doesn't sound like you.

Can I make it feel more festive?

Add a wax seal or scented paper, and up to 10 printed photos (50 each) - a photo of the family at last year's Diwali is the enclosure that gets the biggest reaction.

Find the letter that fits the person and the moment.
