Ten Years Means They've Seen Every Version of You
Ten years is long enough to have watched each other change completely — the job you quit, the person you dated, the phase you'd rather nobody brought up. A ten-year friend is the only kind who can't be impressed by the current version of you, because they met the earlier drafts. That's not a small thing to have, and it deserves better than a forwarded Friendship Day message.

Why send a letter
They hold your history
Ten years in, they remember things about your life that you've forgotten. Writing to them is writing to the only other archive of you that exists.
It survived the changing
Cities, jobs, marriages, the years you barely spoke. Most friendships don't clear those. Say plainly that you know yours did.
A decade earns a real object
You have ten years of messages that are already unrecoverable. One letter on paper outlasts every one of them.

Ten years ago neither of us was anything like this. We've both turned into different people twice over, and somehow the friendship kept up each time. I don't think that's luck. I think we both quietly decided to keep it, over and over, and I wanted you to know I noticed.
There were whole months in these ten years when we barely spoke, and it never once felt like damage. That's rarer than either of us admits. Ten years in, you're still the person I'd call at 2am without rehearsing what to say.
You knew me before I had any idea what I was doing, which means I can never perform for you, which is the most restful thing in my life. Ten years. Thank you for not being impressed by me — it's kept me honest.

Questions, answered
What do you write to a friend of ten years?
Write the things you assume they already know. After a decade, the assumption is the problem — you've never said them because it felt obvious. Name one moment from each rough stretch and what they did in it, then say what the friendship is to you now, plainly, once.
We're close but never sentimental. Won't this be strange?
Keep the register you already have. A ten-year friendship can carry one honest paragraph inside three of the usual insults, and it lands harder that way than earnestness would. The letter doesn't need to sound unlike you to mean something.
Can I send photos with the letter?
Yes — up to 3 photos, printed on photo paper (2.3×3.5" or 3×3") and tucked in with the letter. For ten years, an old photo they've never seen printed is often the part they react to first.
What's the difference between printed and handwritten?
Printed is your words set in a warm type on 100gsm cream paper. Handwritten is a real person writing your letter out by hand, in ink, on the same paper — slower, and the one people keep. For a friend you've had for years, handwritten is usually worth it.
Will it reach in time for Friendship Day?
Friendship Day falls on the first Sunday of August. We produce your letter within a day and send it by tracked post — typically 3–6 days anywhere in India — so order about a week ahead to be comfortable. If you've left it late, order anyway: a letter that lands a few days after is still the only one they'll get all year.
I'm not good with words. Can you help me write it?
Start from the samples on this page, or use our free writing assistant to shape a draft in your own voice. You approve every word before anything is printed or posted — nothing goes out that doesn't sound like you.
Who else sees what I write?
Nobody. Your letter is produced confidentially, sealed, and addressed only to your friend. The envelope is elegant and unbranded on the front, so it doesn't announce itself to whoever collects the post.
