Twenty-Five Years. Half a Lifetime, Give or Take.
Twenty-five years of friendship gets no ceremony, no ring, no function with a photographer — which is odd, because it's outlasted nearly everything that does. If you met in school or in your first job, this friendship is now most of your life. A silver jubilee is a fair thing to declare unilaterally, by post, whether or not they were counting.

Why send a letter
A jubilee nobody else will mark
Marriages get a function at twenty-five. Friendships get nothing. Sending the letter is you deciding it counts — which is most of the gift.
You have a whole life to draw from
Twenty-five years gives you material no card could hold: the exam, the funeral, the wedding, the year it nearly lapsed. Pick three and write them.
Something to leave behind
At twenty-five years, you're writing something their children may eventually read. That's worth ink and good paper.

I've decided that twenty-five years of friendship is a silver jubilee and that we are observing it, because nobody else is going to. There's no function and no photographer. There is this letter, which I wrote by hand, which is more effort than I've put into most weddings.
Twenty-five years. Two funerals, four weddings, one hospital corridor I still think about, and an unreasonable number of ordinary evenings. Most of my life has had you somewhere in the frame. I've never once said thank you for that. I'm saying it now, in writing, so it's on record.
We were nineteen. Neither of us knew anything and we were both extremely confident about it. Twenty-five years later I know exactly one thing for certain: keeping you was the best decision I made in that decade, and I made it mostly by accident.

Questions, answered
How do you celebrate 25 years of friendship?
Most people do nothing, which is why anything at all is memorable. A handwritten letter posted to their house — not a message, not a call — is the version that survives: they'll have it long after any dinner is forgotten, and it costs them nothing to receive.
What should a 25-year friendship letter include?
Three specific moments across the twenty-five years, one thing you've never told them, and one line about what the friendship is now. Resist the urge to summarise the whole quarter-century — the letter works through detail, not coverage.
Can I send the same letter to a whole group of old friends?
You can order separate letters to each address, but write each one differently — the group will compare them, and a shared paragraph will be spotted within the hour. Two personal sentences per person is enough to make each letter its own.
What paper and finish suits a letter like this?
Our standard is 100gsm cream paper, which is right for it. Many people add a wax seal for a jubilee letter, and tie it with twine or ribbon so it has to be opened deliberately rather than torn.
Will it reach in time for Friendship Day?
Friendship Day falls on the first Sunday of August. We produce your letter within a day and send it by tracked post — typically 3–6 days anywhere in India — so order about a week ahead to be comfortable. If you've left it late, order anyway: a letter that lands a few days after is still the only one they'll get all year.
I'm not good with words. Can you help me write it?
Start from the samples on this page, or use our free writing assistant to shape a draft in your own voice. You approve every word before anything is printed or posted — nothing goes out that doesn't sound like you.
Who else sees what I write?
Nobody. Your letter is produced confidentially, sealed, and addressed only to your friend. The envelope is elegant and unbranded on the front, so it doesn't announce itself to whoever collects the post.
